Monday:
Today as you enter the classroom you will see a question written on the board. Please sit down at your desk, take out a piece of paper and quietly and independently list all of the cities in Florida you know and what you know about each one. Once you are finished, please turn your paper over and sit quietly until the teacher begins the discussion.
Once the teacher begins the discussion you are encouraged to participate by raising your hand and waiting to be called upon. Once you are called upon you may give one of the cities you listed and speak about that city. Adding to the discussion will enhance your participation points.
After the discussion is complete the class will play an interactive game led by the teacher on the projector. If you would like to view the game beforehand to practice you may visit http://www.leg.state.fl.us/kids/games/map/index.html. Participation in the game will be very beneficial more for your knowledge than grade.

The teacher will call upon students to provide answers. I suggest you raise your hand as participation is important in the learning process. The teacher will write words and definitions on the board that you must copy and write down in your notebook.
Once the words and definitions are written down you will watch a video from You Tube on the projector. Pay close attention to the video as it will assist you in your next assignment.
Once the video is over you will be given a worksheet. You will work independently on this worksheet. You will choose an appropriate name for your hurricane; use what you learned last week in math about plotting coordinates to track your very own hurricane. Once you have plotted all of the points draw a line to connect them. Once that is complete you must list five objects you should keep in your household during a hurricane. Such as, bottles of water.
Double check your work and hand in the worksheet to be graded on your way out of the classroom. Friday:
Today, as you walk into the classroom pick up a word search from the teachers desk and begin working quietly on it. Once you have completed it you may turn it in to the teacher. After the word search is completed and submitted, you will need to wait patiently and quietly.
Today you will need to be on your best behavior. We will have a guest speaker from Channel 7 News. She works in the meteorology department and has been gracious enough to come in and speak about Florida’s weather predictions.
Throughout the presentation you must come up with at least four questions about Florida’s weather to ask the guest speaker. Not everyone will be able to ask their question so you will e-mail your four questions to the e-mail she writes on the board at the end of her presentation. In the E-mail you must make the subject “Questions from Miss Wilder’s class” in the text box you must write your name, thank her for her wonderful presentation, and ask if she would mind responding with answers to your question. Lastly, electronically sign your name and send the e-mail. Once you are finished you may wait patiently in your seat for the bell to ring.
